Maamun opens the door to his shop, as he does every other morning. It is a tiny white container. Next to it, thousands of containers stretch as far as the eye can see, all of them exactly the same. It is Zaatari, one of the biggest refugee camps in the world. Maamun repairs mobile phones, recovers pictures and videos, and restores the only link his neighbours still have with Syria.
“District Zero” is a documentary about Maamun’s life in Zaatari. But it is also the story of more than 55 million refugees in the world. Some months ago, we got involved in this new project, together with our partners from Txalap.art, and with the help of Oxfam and the European Commission. Because of the World Refugee Day, today we present the project and the trailer, which you can also see here: www.districtzero.org
