Jon Maya directs Kukai Dantza. We know Kukai for a long time, when we shot Oskara, 4 years ago. During confinement we spoke to Jon. In a crisis situation we feel the obligation and the responsibility to contribute what we know how to do. We got motivated and came to the conclusion that something had to be done. Kukai expresses himself through dance and at Arena we make films. So the union came up to do something useful. And so Bizimina was born. Other regular friends soon joined the project, Mikel Salas and Oreka. Bizimina was born to transmit to the audience something that serves as a catharsis of all this common experience. During this period, people have expressed infinity of feelings: suffering people, sick people, isolated people, people without work, locked up… And also many messages have been transmitted, from applause and concerts on balconies to messages of thanks in the RRSS, which sometimes they struck a chord, sometimes they were superficial, and other times they were certainly ideological. It is difficult to express what has happened, what is happening. We continue to assimilate this situation. Concepts such as distance, isolation, closeness or longing have taken on new meanings. Everything has changed. The choreography that Kukai has created are born to express that. The same as the music of Mikel Salas and Oreka. And exactly like our way of looking through a lens. We just wanted to share it with the public, to see ourselves reflected and to feel it together. Bizimina is a project that wants to contribute to the whole of our society. Mikel Salas and Oreka created the soundtrack for Muros, a project that has a lot in common with Bizimina. Both are similar experiences: frustration, isolation, nonsense, sadness, pain ... A soundtrack rooted in Basque culture (like the origin of the Kukai dance), with a great presence of the txalapartas from Oreka, as you will hear on the Amusia theme that they have given in to optimistically sound the final message. Many more are helped throughout the process, such as Zineuskadi, Film Commission of Donosti, Film Commission of Navarra, Film Commission of Vitoria, Piryneum or the Victoria Eugenia Theater. THANKS TO ALL OF THEM. We trust that this list of supports will be greater when we announce to you, this year if everything goes as expected, the premiere of Bizimina.
